Concussion & Vestibular Rehabiliation

Can my dizziness get better?

Are you or a loved one struggling with the aftermath of a concussion or vestibular disorder? At Ace Wellness, we understand the challenges and complexities that come with these conditions. We also know that there is a lot of conflicting and confusing information out there. But you may not have to “just live with” your dizziness for the rest of your life. Our dedicated team of physiotherapists is here to help you regain control of your life and get back to doing what you love.

What to Expect During Your Initial Assessment

During your initial assessment, one of our experienced physiotherapists will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to assess your condition. This may include:

  • Medical History Review: We’ll discuss your medical history, including any previous concussions or vestibular issues, as well as any other relevant medical conditions or treatments.
  • Symptom Assessment: We’ll ask detailed questions about your symptoms, such as:
    • Dizziness
    • Vertigo (sensation of spinning)
    • Imbalance or unsteadiness
    • Headaches
    • Sensitivity to light or sound
    • Cognitive difficulties (such as difficulty concentrating or memory problems)
    • Fatigue or lethargy
  • Physical Examination: Our physiotherapist will perform a physical examination to assess your strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, and other relevant physical functions.
  • Specialized Tests: Depending on your symptoms and medical history, we may perform specialized tests to evaluate your vestibular function, vision, and cognitive abilities.

Based on the findings of the assessment, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals.

What to Expect During Treatment Sessions

Your treatment sessions will be designed to address your unique needs and may include:

  • Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques such as joint mobilizations, soft tissue massage, and myofascial release to address muscle tension and promote relaxation.
  • Vestibular Rehabilitation Exercises: Customized exercises to improve balance, coordination, and vestibular function, helping to reduce dizziness and vertigo.
  • Balance Training: Progressive balance exercises to improve stability and reduce the risk of falls.
  • Visual Therapy: Exercises to improve visual tracking, gaze stability, and visual processing, which are often affected in individuals with vestibular disorders.
  • Education and Home Exercise Program: We’ll provide you with education about your condition and teach you strategies to manage symptoms at home. You’ll also receive a personalized home exercise program to continue your rehabilitation between sessions.

Throughout your treatment sessions, our physiotherapists will closely monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes.
